TECHNICAL FACILITIES

 

  • Biosafety Level 2 laboratories (717 m2)

 

  • Biosafety Level 3 Biocontainment Unit (4.500 m2)
    • 6 laboratories 
    • 12 independent experimental boxes

The independent nature of each box allows different experiments to be performed simultaneously under conditions adapted to each type of experiment. The boxes are prepared to accommodate small and large animals, from farms (pigs, birds, calves, sheep, goats and rabbits) and wildlife, adapting the space to the needs of each species according to the regulations.

 


 


 

INTERNATIONAL REFERENCE CENTRE:

 

Since 2017, the IRTA-CReSA center is designated by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) as:

  • Collaborating Center on emerging and re-emerging pig diseases in Europe (Dr. Joaquim Segalés)
  • Reference Center for classical swine fever (Dra. Llilianne Ganges)

 


SINGULAR INFRAESTRUCTURE:

 

The Biocontainment Unit of IRTA-CReSA is one of the Spanish Scientific and Technical Singular Infraestructures (ICTS). IRTA-CReSA and INIA-CISA are part of the Network of High Biosafety Level Laboratories (RLASB).
