CSFACTORS: Deciphering novel virus and host factors involved in Classical Swine Fever outcome: Implications for disease control

Starting date: 01/01/2019 End date: 31/12/2021

This proposal is based on previous results generated in our laboratory in aspects of pathogenesis, immunology, viral evolution, design of new vaccination strategies and diagnosis against one of the most devastating diseases for global swine production: classical swine fever (CSF). This project deals precisely with the study of the CSFV-host interactions and delves into the mechanisms that underlie the interaction and that are determinant in the generation of acute, chronic or persistent forms of infection, both from the perspective of the nature of the virus as well as from the host’s point of view. Therefore, these studies aim to provide relevant information with direct implication for the CSF diagnosis and control worldwide.
